Overview

Your journey begins at the tranquil Ugii Lake, with time for lakeside walks and beginner-friendly horse riding. From there, venture into the legendary Orkhon Valley and explore Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. After four days, embark on a pack-saddle horse trek to the remote Huisiin Naiman Lake, a chain of pristine mountain lakes hidden within the Khangai range.

Move to the hotel. Unpack and relax at the hotel. Brief urban excursion featuring Gandan Monastery, the National Museum of Mongolia showcasing cultural history from the Stone Age to the 21st century and Buddhism, along with Sukhbaatar Square (or Chingis Khaan Square)

Go to Ugii Lake in the morning. The road is well-paved, and for the last 90 km, we travel on an unpaved road that takes us to the lake. Ugii Lake is a great spot to unwind after a long drive. The lake is home to a rich array of over 150 bird species. Birdwatching, fishing are activities included in the available entertainment. We will meet a local family, discovering their nomadic way of life and animal husbandry. Experiencing a Mongolian ger for the first time

Erdene Zuu Monastery located in Kharkhorin Travel to Kharkhorin, the historic capital of Mongolia during the era of the Mongol Empire. Barely anything remains of this once-great world capital, yet in 1586, during the reign of King Avtai Sain, the Erdene-Zuu Monastery was constructed at the location of the ruins of ancient Kharkhorin. The Erdene-Zuu, translating to Hundred of Treasures, was once more devastated during the Stalinist purges in the 1930s, yet numerous Buddhist statues, artworks, religious tools, and Tsam dance masks still remain at the monastery. A stunning total of 108 stupas encircle the monastery.

Day 4: Orkhon River Valley

Drive to the Tuvkhun monastery, which is settled on the top of the Shiveet mountain. This is the place where Zanabazar, the head and founder of Mongolian Buddhism, was creating his famous artworks such as the national script “soyombo” in the XVI century. Now, the temple has been accepted as “the world's precious heritage” by UNESCO. We can see the symbolic rock formations named “Mother womb”, stone script, and caves in the surroundings.

Day 5: Orkhon waterfall

Hiking & Equine Adventure Day to Shavart Valley We’re starting our straightforward three-day hike; we will abandon our vehicle, and additional horses will assist our group. A path through a lush valley leads us to our campsite

Day 6: Trekking & Horse Riding Day to Shavart Valley

We will reach the Orkhon waterfall or also known as Ulaantsutgalan waterfall. Formed by volcanic eruptions about 20.000 years ago, the waterfall cascades from a height of 20m. It is a scenic, tranquil spot and surrounding nature is undisturbed, as such there are opportunities for good walking and riding in the area. Stay overnight in different ger beside nomadic family.

Day 7-8: Trekking & Horse Riding Days

Hike through the Orkhon Valley to Huisiin Naiman Nuur (“Eight Lakes of the Navel”) at 2,500 m, surrounded by dormant volcanoes. Along the way, meet yak, horse, and sheep herders, and visit a nomadic family. The lakes, covering 11,500 ha in Uvurkhangai Province, are connected by underground channels and were designated a protected area in 1992.

Day 10: Elsen Tasarkhai

Travel to the Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes located in Khugnu Khan National Park, resembling an entrance to the Gobi Desert. It is a splendid location for capturing wildlife landscape portraits. Additionally, discover the stunning Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes and trek in the gorgeous mountains that encircle this area. Regardless of the hour, the stunning and constantly evolving landscape of the magnificent Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune will be abundant with wildlife, vitality, and activity

Day 11: Travel to UB

Back to Ulaanbaatar Head back to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to the hotel and relax. Option to go shopping for souvenirs and cashmere products. Cultural performance in the evening.
