Overview

The 9-day Northern Mongolia Tour offers a rich blend of cultural exploration and natural beauty, taking you to highlights such as Amarbayasgalant Monastery for scenic hikes, the volcanic peak of Urantogoo, and the pristine “Blue Pearl” of Mongolia—Khuvsgul Lake—where you can trek, horseback ride, or simply relax. You’ll also explore Khorgo–Terkh National Park with a trek to Horgo Volcano, unwind in the Tsenher Hot Springs, experience camel riding on the Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes, and visit historic Kharkhorum, home to the ancient Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Kharkhorum Museum. The best time for this journey is from June to August, when temperatures are mild (15°C–25°C) and the landscape is at its greenest, ideal for outdoor adventures.

We will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse at 8:30 am. Then, our tour will head to Amarbayasgalant monastery. Amarbayasgalant Monastery is a place where you can learn about Mongolian culture, history, and architecture. When you visit, you can explore the temples, take in the beautiful artwork, and relax in the peaceful surroundings.

Today, we are heading to Uran Togoo. Urantogoo Uul is a dormant volcano located on the western flank of the Uran Togoo Natural Monument in Bulgan province. This location is an excellent place to pause when visiting Khuvsgul Lake. As you ascend Urantogoo Uul, you can experience a clear view in every direction

Khuvsgul Lake is a significant destination for tourists in Mongolia. Tourists visit to appreciate its scenic landscapes, hike in the nearby mountains, and immerse themselves in the traditional culture of the local Tsaatan community. Its stunning landscapes and pristine surroundings make it an essential destination for anyone traveling through the northern areas of the country.


Day 4: Khuvsgul Lake

Today, savor your peaceful moments at Khuvsgul Lake. Stroll calmly by the lake, inhale the fresh mountain breeze, and relish the beautiful scenery. You will also have the chance to meet the Tsaatan family of reindeer herders. (Some Tsaatan families visit Khuvsgul Lake from June through late August.)



Day 5: Shine Ider

Shine Ider Village is officially within Khuvsgul province, but it lies on the boundary between Khuvsgul and Arkhangai provinces. This village frequently acts as a stopover for those traveling to Central Mongolia. The primary scenery in this area features predominantly woods and open meadows, creating an ideal serene and tranquil location for travelers passing by



Day 6: Terkh & Khorgo

After breakfast, we’ll head from Semi Gobi to Ulaanbaatar and drop you off at your booked hotel or guesthouse.




Day 7: Tsenkher hot springs

Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park is a popular destination for tourists and nature enthusiasts. Visitors can engage in activities such as hiking, horseback riding and exploring the volcanic formations. One of the park’s highlights is Horgo Volcano, a dormant volcano covered with basalt. Hiking to the volcano and exploring its unique crater is a must-do activity.

Day 8: Elsen Tasarkhai +Kharkhorin

The geothermal springs are famous for their mineral-laden waters, which are thought to have therapeutic benefits due to the inclusion of several minerals, such as calcium, sodium, and sulfur. The natural landscape provides a peaceful and calm atmosphere, making it a perfect location for unwinding. Additionally, it serves not just as a retreat for unwinding but also as an excellent location for nature lovers and photographers.




Day 9:Ulaanbaatar

This morning we will travel to Mini Gobi, stopping to explore Kharkhorin city along the way. Explore Erdenezuu monastery and the Kharkhorum museum. Elsen Tasarkhai is an impressive semi-arid area found in the heart of Mongolia. It features a distinctive combination of sandy dunes, grasslands, rocky structures, and small water bodies, resulting in an enchanting natural landscape. Riding camels for 1 hour
